Welcome to Diversity in Medicine! We are a passionate and dedicated team committed to addressing the critical issue of diversity within the healthcare industry. Our mission is to promote inclusivity, equity, and representation in all facets of medicine. As healthcare enthusiasts, we recognize that diversity is not just a buzzword but a fundamental necessity in the medical field. It goes beyond race and ethnicity; it encompasses gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and more. Our motivation stems from the belief that diversity enriches healthcare, resulting in better patient care, more innovative solutions, and a healthcare workforce that truly mirrors the communities it serves.
Mission Statement
In the 1930s, a black postal carrier from Harlem named Victor Green published The Negro Motorist Green Book. This book was part travel guide, part survival guide as it helped African Americans navigate safe passage across America. Now in 2023, physicians are under attack and we need safe passage through American medicine. There are conversations that need to be had, and experiences that need to be shared to keep us safe and light the way for the next generation. The Green room is where we can have those conversations. We can laugh, and cry together and most importantly we can speak truth to power; expose those who would do us harm; advocate for change and each other.
